  • NSSF Organized Workshop on the Keys of Strengthening Social Protection for Informal Workers

    Phnom Penh – In Friday morning on 23 March 2018, the National Social Security Fund (NSSF) of Ministry of Labour and Vocational Training opened the consultative workshop on the Choices for Expanding Social Protection for Informal Worker in Cambodia to be held in the Grand Room of NSSF.

    This workshop presided over by H.E. Sum Sophorn, Deputy Director of NSSF, who represented H.E. Ouk Samvithyea, Delegate of the Royal Government in charge as Director of the National Social Security Fund. There are 40 participants consist of H.E. Deputy Directors, Directors and Representatives of 12 NSSF divisions, and representatives of relevant ministries, workers, employers, trade unions, development partners, and ILO.

    This workshop aims to discuss and consult with stakeholders in a bid to find the actual choices focused on registration of informal workers and preparation of action plan for expanding the coverage of social protection system in Cambodia.

    H.E. Sum Sophorn, Deputy Director of NSSF, certified that in line with Rectangular Strategy-Phase III for Growth, Employment, Equity, and Efficiency, Rectangle 4, Angle 3 “Development of Social Protection System” of the Royal Government of the fifth legislature,  Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen, Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Cambodia, issued social protection policy as safety net for people nationwide, in particular social security schemes for formal workers and preparation of launching social security schemes for informal workers that NSSF is studying possibility of launching these schemes. His Excellency added that so far the officials and staff of NSSF provided public services to the members with friendliness, high responsibility, professional conscience, and code of ethic with the aim of accomplishing achievements for their organization as well as Ministry of Labour and Vocational Training.
