  • H.E. ITH SAMHENG, MINISTER OF THE MINISTRY OF LABOUR AND VOCATIONAL TRAINING, HIGHLY APPRECIATED AND EVALUATED ACHIEVEMENTS OF NSSF IN 2019

    Phnom Penh—On Tuesday morning of 14 January 2020, H.E. Ith Samheng, Minister of Labour and Vocational Training, highly appreciated and evaluated the NSSF achievements in the meeting on Annual Achievements in 2019 and Action Plans in 2020, which was held at Dara Airport Hotel, Phnom Penh.

    His excellency add that he sincerely appreciated the effort of leaders, Governing Body, officials, and contract staff of the National Social Security Fund as well as the relevant ministry, institution, organization, and stakeholders that participated in all activities and took high responsibility as well as was a vital catalyst in order to enable this institution to attain the proudly fruitful outcome until now.

    So far, the National Social Security Fund (NSSF) has already received 04 outstanding awards from ASEAN Social Security Association (ASSA)—(1) Innovation Recognition Award on Employment Injury Insurance in 2015 from ASSA Chairman at Singapore; (2) Insurance Coverage Excellence Award on Health Insurance Scheme in 2016 from ASSA Chairman at Philippine; (3) Customer Service Excellence Award on Health Insurance Scheme in 2018 from ASSA Chairman at Vietnam; and (4) Insurance Coverage Recognition Award on Health Insurance for Public Employees, Former Civil Servants and Veterans in 2019 from ASSA Chairman at Brunei Darussalam.

    Related to the NSSF achievements in 2019, H.E. Ouk Samvithyea, Delegate of Royal Government in charge as Director of the National Social Security Fund, said that New Law on Social Security Scheme has just been promulgated focusing on 04 schemes such as Pension, Health Care, Occupational Risk, and Unemployment Schemes for persons under public sector, persons defined by the provisions of the Labour Law including personnel serving in air and maritime transportation as well as domestic workers and the self-employed. ​​ So far, NSSF has implemented social security schemes on Occupational Risk and Health Care by covering workers and public employees since 2019. The implementation of each scheme is very significant in order to contribute to achieving the national economic growth.

    He believed that in this New Year, both officials and contract staff of NSSF are dedicated to raise awareness of the implementation policy of the Social Security Schemes with the regional countries and development partners in order to gain new knowledge and experience to complement the existing works and improve the implementation of social security schemes.

    It’s certified that the meeting on Annual Achievements in 2019 and Action Plans in 2020 of NSSF was presided over by H.E. Ith Samheng, Minister of the Ministry of Labour and Vocational Training, with the presence of representatives of ministries, institutions, organizations, and stakeholders amounted to approximately 300 participants.
