  • Worker-Transporting Drivers in Sihanouk Ville Have Entitlement to Access Services in the Public Health Facility Free of Charge

    Sihanouk Ville – On 22 March 2018, the National Social Security Fund of Ministry of Labour and Vocational Training prepared an event to distribute the membership card of Health Equity Fund and the entry card of special economic zone in Sihanouk Ville to around 200 worker-transporting drivers.

    This event presided over by H.E. Cheav Bunrith, NSSF Spokesman, who represented H.E. Ouk Samvithyea, Delegate of the Royal Government in charge as Director of the National Social Security Fund, and is President of Road Traffic Safety Team for Worker Prevention, and participated by representative of Special Economic Zone owner, NSSF branch officials, chief of worker-transporting driver association, and worker-transporting drivers.

    H.E. Cheav Bunrith said that NSSF collaborated with the owner of special economic zone to hold this event in order to distribute the entry card to the worker-transporting drivers for transporting workers safely in the compound of special economic zone in Sihanouk Ville; particularly, NSSF distributed 196 membership cards of Health Equity Fund to the worker-transporting drivers in a bid to allow them to access services in the public health facility free of charge. The event was held after NSSF received data of worker-transporting drivers because of the collaboration of the owner of Sihanouk Special Economic Zone and the worker-transporting driver association.

    The report of RTSTWP on Annual achievements 2017 shows that workers’ traffic accidents have 1,771 cases in which there are 2,326 female victims in total: 320 serious injuries, 1,970 mild injuries, and 36 deaths. These accidents offended by 87.62% of motorcyclist, 3.96% of car drivers, and 8.42% of other factors.

    He continued that due to the collaboration of the owner of Sihanouk Special Economic Zone, NSSF prepared this event to distribute the entry card of Sihanouk Special Economic Zone and the membership card of Health Equity Fund to worker-transporting drivers for accessing medical care services free of charge in the public health facility nationwide.

    These achievements are the effort of the Royal Government under the leadership of Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen, Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Cambodia, through Ministry of Labour and Vocational Training in which the National Social Security Fund is an operator of social protection system with high effectiveness.

    It’s certified that in line with principles of Samdech Techo Hun Sen, Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Cambodia, from 01 January 2018 onwards, chief of village, vice-chief of village, village members, and commune council have entitlement to access medical care services in the public health facility nationwide free of charge. In more particular, Samdech Techo Hun Sen provided additional allowance to the informal and formal female worker when deliver a baby as follows:

    • One child equal to 400,000 riels.
    • Twin equal to 800,000 riels.
    • Triple twin equal to 1,200,000 riels. Furthermore, this triple twin will become the adopted children of Samdech Techo Hun Sen by receiving additionally 5,000,000 riels.
