  • NSSF DISTRIBUTED DRIVING LICENCE TO 103 WORKER-TRANSPORTING DRIVERS IN KHAN DONG KOR

    Phnom Penh—On Wednesday morning of 07 November 2018, Road Traffic Safety Team for Worker Prevention (RTSTWP) of the National Social Security Fund (NSSF) distributed the driving licence to 103 worker-transporting drivers, passed the category of driving licence: D2, at MOHA GARMENT CO., LTD situated in VATHANAK 2 Industrial Park Zone, Sangkat Krang Pongro, Khan Dong Kor, Phnom Penh.

    This event was presided over by Mr. Chay Samnang, Deputy Director of Policy Division of the National Social Security Fund, representative of H.E. Ouk Samvithyea, Delegate of the Royal Government in charge as Director of the National Social Security Fund, and President of Road Traffic Safety Team for Worker Prevention, and participated by representatives of institutions and organizations involved, worker-transporting drivers, and workers amount to approximately 100 participants.

    He said that this event aims to promote the road traffic safety for workers through offering the training course on Traffic Law to worker-transporting drivers and particularly allow the worker-transporting drivers to raise more awareness of traffic law such as safe transportation for workers, no overtaking in the dangerous situation, and respect of priority. Furthermore, RTSTWP facilitated the worker-transporting drivers without driving licence and with driving licence unsuitable with the category of vehicles to take the driving test and motivated them to observe the traffic law correctly in order to reduce the traffic accident at the lowest level.

    He added that through the collaboration for offering the driving training course and driving test, so far, it was observed that rate of worker-transporting drivers without driving licence had plummets. Based on the report of semester 1 in 2018 of Road Traffic Safety Team for Worker Prevention, there are 4,369 worker-transporting drivers in total—3591 with driving licence equal to 82% and 778 without driving licence equal to 18%. Also, we observed that the traffic accident inflicting on the workers had also decreased noticeably if comparable with the data of traffic accident in semester 1 in 2017 with semester 1 in 2018.
