  • NATIONAL SOCIAL SECURITY FUND DISPENSED APPROXIMATELY 25 BILLION RIELS OF ADDITIONAL ALLOWANCE OF THE ROYAL GOVERNMENT TO POSTNATAL WORKERS

    Phnom Penh—From 01 January to 25 December 2018, the National Social Security Fund (NSSF) of the Ministry of Labour and Vocational Training distributed the additional allowance of the Royal Government to 63,677 postnatal workers with 64,147 babies  amounted to approximately 25 billion riels.

    H.E. Ouk Samvithyea, Delegate of the Royal Government in charge as Director of the National Social Security Fund (NSSF), certified that the Head of Royal Government under the outstanding leadership of wisdom of Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padie Techo Hun Sen, Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Cambodia, always pays high attention to the welfare and livelihood of all Cambodian people and workers through the Ministry of Labour and Vocational Training whose the National Social Security Fund (NSSF) is an operator.

    He added that the Head of the Royal Government authorized NSSF to register formal and informal workers for accessing medical care services through Health Equity Fund. Until now, NSSF has registered 23,183 enterprises/establishments with 137,845 workers. Meanwhile, the Royal Government of Cambodia issued publically to provide additional allowance to postnatal formal and informal workers as follows:

    • One child = 400,000 riels.
    • Twin = 800,000 riels.
    • Triplet = 1,200,000 riels

    The National Social Security Fund (NSSF) of the Ministry of Labour and Vocational Training is authorized to distribute this additional allowance.

    This special gift is to respond to the livelihood of workers lacking money during delivery, a policy to promote the social protection, promotion of the Cambodian population growth, and contribution to relieve the hardship of workers.

    The new policy of this additional allowance provision was exercised by 01 January 2018 and supported completely by workers—particularly postnatal workers.

    He mentioned the above-mentioned in the event of distributing 1,160 membership cards to leaders, civil servants, and contract officials of the Ministry of Posts and Telecommunications to be held on Tuesday afternoon of 25 December 2018 in the office of the ministry concerned and presided over by H.E. Tram Iv Tek, Minister of Posts and Telecommunications, as well as taken part by leaders and officials who represented their institutions and organizations amounted to approximately 100 participants.

    H.E. Tram Iv Tek, Minister of Posts and Telecommunications, raised that social security schemes on Occupational Risk for public employees and on Health Care for public employees, former civil servants, and veterans are a good policy in order to promote welfare and livelihood of public employees, former civil servants, and veterans.
